This breed was developed by Mr.
Todd Tripp of Southeast Ohio in the late 1990's. Mr. Tripp’s
vision was to re-create the Brabanter Bullenbeisser of the 1700’s that
was found in the central Belgium province known as Brabant. A strong
working dog with a bully build, there legs still underneath them the
Banter Bulldogges range from 50-85 lbs with a slight under bite and mostly
solid in color with minimal amount of white. His foundation
consisted or dogs that were a combination of boxer and various other
working bull breeds. Most importantly of all was the regularity of
using a percentage of Boxer in the foundation brood stock. Mr. Tripp
was very discriminate in the choosing of dogs to form the foundation of
his Banter Bulldogge breeding program. A great deal of research,
thought and selective breeding was involved before he reached his final
goal.
** John Wagner's Book, The Boxer, first published in 1939 ** ** " This Brabanter Bullenbeisser, once the sole property of the nobility, became the butcher's and the cattle dealer's dog. His intelligence and tractability enabled the Bullenbeisser to re-invent himself as a family and a guard dog. The Brabanter, was developed for use in close quarters on small game and was bred in the central Belgian province of Brabant." ** ** "his remarkable intelligence and tractability endeared him to so large a group of individuals that he carried on when so many breeds completely disappeared. " (Wagner, 1950)** The

good-natured and usually witty and animated joking, also coming from the
Old Belgium dogs of the 1700's from the area in and around Brabant know as
the Brabanter Bullenbeisser. |
