The IOEBA breed standards are a detailed written description of the perfect "type" or "flawless" canine specimen of a certain breed.

A good detailed breed standard is a very effect tool for a breeder. The standard should be used
as a written guide to direct their breeding program and assist breeders selection and evaluation
of future brood stock that may have an impact on the breed.

The goal of all reputable breeders is to achieve perfection as far as type and health.

An IOEBA conformation judge uses the breed standard as a guide to give themselves a mental picture of breed perfection by which they select future IOEBA champions by.
